Cass-on-the-rocks2 Artist Statement

"Whether we create it or collect it, art elevates our surroundings and allows us to express our identity through our personal environment. Lets face it, without the arts life would lack color and depth. Since I believe nature is the best art there is and I don't think it can be improved on, I just give an abstract interpretation of it.  I view that as a uniquely human ability -- to create and interpret. We all have more in common than we realize, and art is a way for me to reach past outer differences, and try to connect with a person's true essence.

Since an artist goes within to create art, then goes out into the world to find people to witness it, thank you for visiting this site and letting me share my work with you. Please see the Events page for shows and art events with guest speakers, which celebrate the beauty and joy of art. If you find any art on this site that you would like to know more about, please call to set up a private showing. A special thanks to my DFWhub webmaster Ida Osemwota, and to Rocio Heredia for the excellent work they have each done on my website."

A Bit of History

Cassandra grew up in a family of artists who loved nature and spent a lot of time in the woods and near the water. With a drawing teacher and a sculpture professor for parents, she was exposed to working in a variety of media such as wax, paint, clay, metal, plaster and ink from a very early age. She founded her company Tanzende Arts in the early 90's, while working in paint and lost wax casting in metal, which led to larger works in welded metal and stone. Her background of dance and the performing arts led to producing several multi-media shows which incorporated the visual arts (while member of the Dallas Poets Community, the Japanese taiko drum group Kobushi, and other dance and drumming groups in the '90's). This background prepared her to work in promotional production with video, featuring her visual art works and the work of others. (Videos may be viewed on the Media page.)

Cassandra currently works out of her Tanzende private Studio Gallery in Plano, and east Dallas studio, where she gets to celebrate the rich vivid hues of color through painting, as well as the synergy of dimension and light through her metal sculpture with gem stones. She intends to continue working in both 2D and 3D until the end of her days.
